Lt Dan Buckley here with my DJ pick for this week featuring another track from the new Soccer Mommy album. Soccer Mommy is the stage name of 21 year old bedroom pop and indie rock musician Sophie Allison.
Her debut album album proper Clean was released earlier this year and beautifully intertwines empowerment and melancholy and edge and vulnerability. In the latest single “Cool,” Allison romanticizes being the rebel chick “Mary [with] a heart of coal,” who can easily manipulate boys and never be phased.
