Lt. Dan here sharing Strand of Oaks’ new track “Ruby” as my DJ pick of the week. Strand of Oaks aka Timothy Showalter will release his new album, Eraserland, March 22 via Dead Oceans. Featuring My Morning Jacket members Carl Broemel, Tom Blankenship and Bo Koster, the record is the follow-up to 2017’s Hard Love and its 2018 continuation Harder Love.
Showalter says of the track, “‘Ruby’ is the happiest song I’ve ever written. Ruby isn’t a person, rather the concept of time and memory and how with every passing year it becomes non linear. In the past I would’ve dismissed such unabashedly pure optimism, but I’ve been through a lot and I’ve learned to appreciate those rare moments of light.”
