Festival Lineup Season!

That’s right y’all it is festival line up season and boy oh boy a bounty of spectacular announcements have been made regarding music gatherings across the nation. With more and more festivals popping up every year sometimes it is hard to keep up with all of the locations, bands, and dates that come with the territory. Lucky for you, here at Lightning 100 we are long time festival junkies and we have the sunburns and wristbands to prove it.


Hangout Music Fest

Dates: May 16-18

Location: Gulf Shores, Alabama

Tickets: Go on sale January 16 @ 10 A.M.

                        3 Day passes start at $229


Music festivals are magnificent in nearly any location, but when the gathering is on a beach well, it just doesn’t get much better than that. Created in 2010, Hangout has steadily grown in attendees and continues to draw larger and larger acts. This year is no exception.

Headliners include: The Black Keys, The Killers, Outkast, and Jack Johnson.

 CounterPoint Music Festival

Dates: April 25-27

Location: Kingston Downs, Georgia

Tickets: Advance Tickets On Sale Now

                        3 Day passes start at $180


Dubbed as “the cure for the common festival” CounterPoint debuted in 2012 at Kingston Downs, home of the Atlanta Steeplechase. Again a steadily growing festival with an obvious electronic/ EDM influence this festival is a quick shot south for the fine people of Nashville looking to get away for the weekend and kick of festival season the right way.

Headliners include: Outkast, Pretty Lights, Foster The People, STS9

 Firefly Music Festival

Dates: June 19-22

Location: Dover, Delaware

Tickets: Go on sale January 20 @ 11 A.M. CST

                        4 day passes start at $249


Established in 2012 Firefly takes place in The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway and tries to provide “an open-air festival on the East coast with plenty of outdoor camping much like Bonnaroo.” “The East Coast’s premiere music experience”, has seen rapid growth since 2012 and has a spectacular line-up this year, take a look.

Headliners include: Foo Fighters, Outkast, Jack Johnson

Our favorite bands from Nashville include: Wild Cub, The Wild Feathers, Vance Joy, Cherub, The Weeks, and John and Jacob

 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

Established in 1999 this wildly famous gathering in the desert of southern California draws crowds upwards of 90,000 including many Hollywood stars. Fashion and the possibility over 100-degree weather are highlighted nearly every year, it is always an impressive festival.

Headliners include: Outkast, Muse, Arcade Fire

Shaky Knees Music Festival

Dates: May 9-11

 Location: Atlanta, Georgia

                        3 day passes start at $150


Born into the music festival world in just 2013 this young festival has released an extremely solid lineup. Taking place this year at Atlantic Station and we the people have been cautioned to “Expect lots of surprises this year” and we look forward to it.

Headliners include: The National, Modest Mouse, and an additional headliner to be announced.

Our favorite bands from Nashville: The Lone Bellow, Langhorne Slim, The Whigs, Kopecky Family Band, The Weeks, Apache Relay, Fly Golden Eagle

Well folks, I wish I could tell you that you needn’t look any further for more information however I have barely scratched the surface. As you can see we have a lot of Nashville acts to be proud of so as you attend these festivals be sure to go out and show them the support they deserve! We love our Nashville bands here at Lightning 100 and we wish them all the best and safe travels! Bonnaroo will be announcing their line-up on February 19th and I know we all are discussing the speculations, and anxiously awaiting to see who is coming to the farm.
