Live On The Green preview is sponsored by Atkinson Remodeling.

Another week another terrific Live on the Green am I right y’all? I sure hope you were there to see Smokin’ Joe Robinson put on a guitar clinic. Followed by some of the hottest soul Nashville has ever seen delivered by none other than St. Paul and The Broken Bones. To wrap the night up Robert Randolph and the Family Band brought the house down and brought all the Nashville ladies he could fit up on stage with him. This week we will stay true to Live on the Green standards and keep the craft beer and food trucks LOCAL. We hope to see all you Nashville NATIVES at Public Square Park again this week. Again bring your friends, bring your dogs, bring the kids, bring that lucky lady or man in your life to the best party in Nashville, this weeks line up is stacked with Nashville greats, and some California boys with the best harmonies west of the Mississippi.

Local Natives

Formed in 2008 in Orange County California, Local Natives have yet to fit a “perfect” mold of a genre. Their sound has been described as “afropop-influenced guitars with hyperactive drumming and hooky three-part harmonies.” Really that description is quite perfect. In 2010 they released their first full-length album, Gorilla Manor and have recently followed it up with their sophomore effort, Hummingbird released in 2013. Speaking from experience, this is a live show that you do not want to miss, clear your schedule because Local Natives is sure to impress if not stun. If you don’t believe me check out their song “Breakers.”

Leagues

Leagues describes their formation as, “not exactly random, but not contrived.” Singer Thad Cockrell, guitarist Tyler Burkum and drummer Jeremy Lutito, all local to Nashville released their first full length in You Belong Here in early 2013. They have created quite a buzz in the music world, NPR has said, “The Nashville band Leagues perfectly encapsulates the change going on in the Music City.” You will know you attended Live on the Green this week when you have Leagues song “Spotlight” stuck in your head on your way home.

Lulu Mae

This year’s Music City Mayhem champions Lulu Mae are the definition of a family band made up of two married couples, a pair of brothers and an “adopted” guitarist. In 2012 the band released their first full-length album entitled The Mockingbird and the Dogwood Tree. They describe themselves as “folk-rock, family-style” and they are sure to get you moving and smiling. Take a listen to their song “Coralinna.”

  1. I bring my children to Live on the Green every week. Last week, while we were standing near the front watching Joe Robinson, my 4th grader said he saw his friend backstage. I assumed he was mistaken and we went on about our night. The next day, he said his friend was there, the daughter of Lt. Dan. Now, he only wants to listen to Lightening 100 while we are in the car and can’t wait to go back to the Green tonight. We’ve had a blast there for the last few weeks. I’m gonna be sad when it ends. The acts have all been amazing. You guys truly rock!!! 🙂
