This magical holiday will be gracing us this Saturday, April 22, and Lightning 100 wants to help you celebrate this year! This Record Store Day is sure to deliver some groovy surprises. Be sure to check out the Record Store Day Exclusives to keep tabs on what you might want to snag, as there will be some seriously rare releases you won’t want to miss. Along with the devote vinyl worship that will be taking place, we can’t forget about all the great live music that will be going down as well. Many record shops around town will be hosting live local bands, food trucks and vendors, as well as fun activities and games. And with eleven stores in the Nashville area participating, you’re going to have to do some planning if you want to hit every stop. Here is our need-to-know info on Record Store Day, so you don’t miss out on any of the action!

Vinyl Tap

Celebrate Record Store Day 2017 with live music, cold beer, and good barbeque! Take advantage of one of our biggest vinyl sales of the year while listening to live music on our indoor AND outdoor stages, and grab some grub from one of our favorite local food trucks, Shotgun WIllie’s.

Grimey’s

Grimey’s will be opening at 10am on RSD and is located at 1604 8th Ave S. They’ll be giving away concert tickets to Forecastle Festival, Real Estate, The Pixies, Franz Ferdinand, Dawes, Hall & Oates with Tears For Fears, Lake Street Dive, and more! Frothy Monkey and Crankees Pizzeria will provide food and beverage, and live music will start at 12pm! The lineup is as follows:

The Groove

Opening at 10am on RSD, The Groove is located at 1103 Calvin Ave. The Groove will have all new RSD releases plus will be having a 15% off storewide sale the whole day! Good People Brewing Company, Blue Chair Bay rum, Mas Tacos Por Favor, Porter Road Butcher, and more will be providing food and beverages. Live music will take place starting at noon. Boulevard Record Shop

Located on Belmont Blvd right across from Bongo Java, Boulevard Record Shop will be opening at 9am on RSD! Offering a 10% off discount for students, 25% off all Crosley merchandise, and free T-shirts with any $50 purchase (while supplies last) there are some not-to-be-missed-deals happening over on the Blvd! Plus with food from No Baked Cookie Dough, Dickeys BBQ, Krave Beef Jerkey, and beverages from Switters Nitrogen Coffee, you should bring your appetite! There also will be live music from 11am – 5pm:

Following the day line-up, Boulevard Record Shop will also be hosting a night show from 6-10pm, announcements on that will happen this Thursday. They’re offering wristbands for $10 which will get you entrance to the night show, entered into a giveaway for the Beatles White Album original mono pressing, and a premium RSD item of your choice!

Third Man Records and Novelties

You know that Third Man is going to have some GREAT exclusives this RSD. Just see for yourself at the Third Man Records Record Store Day page. They’ll be open at 10am so go check out the cool vinyl as well as new merchandise! They’re also going to have three bands playing live that day, as will be announced soon! 

The Great Escape Charlotte

For the West Nashvillians, The Great Escape on Charlotte Ave is participating in this Record Store Day! Located at 5400 Charlotte Ave they’re going to be opening at 7am, so start your morning off early on the west side. Their celebration includes free merchandise such as CD samplers, stickers, posters and more. They’re giving 20% off all used music and music supplies, as well as used CDs, LPs, cassette and 8-track tapes, LP bags and boxes, and 50% off all used 45s and 78s. They’ll also have some exclusive RSD releases from Bowie, Prince, The Doors, The Dead, DMB, Jason Isbell and many more!

The Vinyl Bunker

This is the Vinyl Bunker’s first Record Store Day celebration! So come on down to

144 5th Ave N to help them ring in their first RSD with exclusive vinyl releases, a prize pack vinyl giveaway, by enjoying food from Music City Winery, and rummaging for fashionable finds from Litter and Vintage. They’ll be open at 11am and will be hosting live music from 12-6pm! In-store performances will include a plethora of talented local artists such as:

And in honor of Earth Day, The Vinyl Bunker encourages you to bring in your unplayable vinyl to be recycled by The Wreckerd mill. Anyone who donates their used vinyl will be entered to win a weekend passes to the Nashville Boogie Vintage Weekender Festival, as well as several other goodies!

At 535 4th Ave S AND 1313 McGavock Pike, Record Store Day will be doubled at Fond Object Records. Beginning at 10am at both locations it will be double the trouble for this record shop. Come out to either, or both, locations for a variety of different live music, local vendors, and eclectic vinyl.

Alison’s Record Shop

As Nashville’s newest source for vintage vinyl, Alison’s Record Shop will be opening at 8am on this majestic Record Store Day. They will not be providing any special RSD releases, but they will be offering sales throughout the whole day!

From 8-9 am: 20% off vinyl

From 11-5pm: 10% off vinyl

New Life Record Shop

At 5343 Charlotte Ave, New Life Record Shop will be celebrating Record Store Day staring at 10am. Live music by John La Fave and Johnny G will start at 12pm!

Brian "the web guy" is a Nashville native that grew up on radio and Grimey's New and Preloved Music. Seasoned communications professional that has immersed himself in the Nashville community while connecting local musicians, businesses, non-profits, unicorns, and transplants. Starting in 2008, Brian has worked with programming, marketing, sales, and promotion. Roles have included but not limited to copywriting, digital sales, content creation, sponsorship, video production, graphic design, booking, event creation, social media posting, and targeted ad purchasing.
