(Show #971; aired on 06-09-2012)
1982 was definitely the “center lane” for Techno-Pop. New Brit and L.A. bands were experimenting with special dance club mixes complete with rhythmic beats, synthesized keyboards and added special effects. The rest of the U.S. of A. was playing it more safe — using a very clean, polished sound. Also in this year, many top market Progressive stations were beginning to “tighten-up” their playlists with highly researched song titles in a format called Album Oriented Rock (or AOR). Have no fear though — we’ll go quite a bit deeper than that on today’s show. Have fun listening and feel free to share this playlist with your friends! — Fred
