RETRO LIGHTNING – 1968

(Show #978; aired on 07-28-2012)

.

1968…a year of turmoil in America and around the world.  Musically, it was the beginning of Progressive Rock as an experimental psychedelic art form.  With heavy influence out of the U.K., music selections became more drawn-out and creative.  It was a turning point away from the standard three-minute Pop hit single.  Today, we’ll delve into some of those compositions along with some of your favorite musical memories from 1968.  Thanks for listening and sharing this post with your friends! — Fred

RETRO LIGHTNING -1967

(Show #957; aired on 03-03-2012)

1967…I was only ten years old, but there was plenty of weird stuff going on in the world at the time.  It was the year of “draft dodging”, war protests, the British Invasion, psychedelic black light posters, “The Summer of Love”, bell-bottom polyesters, high-powered Top 40 Radio, and much more!  Today, we have a great mix of music and memories from 1967.  Plus, a tribute to Davy Jones of The Monkees, who passed away earlier this week.  — Fred
