Lightning 100 had a great 2012….for in-studio performances! We made a list of our some of our favorite performances from the year, click here to see the full list.
Imagine Dragons – Radioactive We gave 20 lucky fans the chance to see a private performance with Imagine Dragons before their sold out show at Cannery Ballroom. One of our listeners included lead singer, Dan Reynolds, younger brother who won tickets during the lunch request hour. Watch Imagine Dragons performs “Radioactive” live at Lightning 100. Click here to see the band perform their big single “It’s Time” live in our studio.
Alabama Shakes – Hold On Band of Horses used to wear the crown for biggest crowd at Live On the Green until Alabama Shakes performed in 2012. Check out Alabama Shakes performance “Hold On” at Live On the Green. Filmed and edited by Make It Pop
Passion Pit – Take A Walk Passion Pit performs in front of a few fans in Griffin Technology’s Pre-Show Live event at Marathon Music Works. The band was running late, so we had to cut out the interview. Michael Angelakos, lead singer of Passion Pit was a little offended by this. Check out this live version of “Take A Walk”. We’ve also recorded “Constant Conversations” and “Sleepyheads” at the show.
The Lumineers – Classy Girl
If you heard The Lumineers first on Lightning 100, you’ve got Wells Adams to thank for that. After a few weeks of playing “Ho Hey” during our music meetings, the song made it to the airwaves. Lightning 100 was one of the first stations in the country to play The Lumineers…..and now you hear them everywhere.
Walk The Moon – Anna Sun
The young up-and-coming band Walk the Moon stopped by the studio without their face paint. Check out their performance “Anna Sun” live at Lightning 100. We’ve also got a recording of “Tightrope” on our HD On-demand Page. Read more
We were excited to get Walk the Moon into the studio for an interview and performance before their show at Mercy Lounge. The guys came into the studio, without face paint, to perform “Anna Sun” and “Tightrope” live in the studio. Click here to watch the HD live performances.
The face painted indie rockers, Walk the Moon, make a debut on 100.1 FM with “Anna Sun”. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Lead singer and Ohio native Nicholas Petricca started the band in 2008 and went through several member changes before finally coming together with current members, Kevin Ray, Sean Waugaman, and Eli Maiman sometime in 2010. The band derives their name from the song “Walking on the Moon” by The Police. Check out Walk the Moon’s video for “Anna Sun”, it’s pretty impressive. We’ve also posted a video of the guys performing with PS22 choir.
WALK THE MOON will be stopping by the Lightning 100 studios around 3pm. They have a show tonight at Mercy Lounge. Check out some of these AMAZING videos from WALK THE MOON!
After WALK THE MOON stops by, the band who is opening up the show tonight Family Of The Year will play us a few songs.
