Hi, it’s Lightning 100’s LT Dan! You can hear me on air weekdays from noon to 3pm and you’ll be sure to see me at lots of shows this year!
My top 5 shows I’m looking forward to in the month of May are:
May 7th: Trampled by Turtles with the Devil Makes Three. I love this band and I love this venue. I bet most of Nashville has never even been to the Woods Amphitheater and it’s my favorite! There’s just something special about seeing a band like Trampled by Turtles in a forest. They also have totally chill tailgating rules including leaving your car overnight if you have one too many.
May 19th: Cage the Elephant w/ Portugal. The Man and Broncho. This is going to be one wild show folks. In case you didn’t know, Cage officially calls Nashville home these days. They made it really clear when they played The Basement East a few months ago. I love every one of their records and they gave us our biggest Live on the Green performance in the history of the festival back in 2014. This is a can’t miss show.
May 20th: Miike Snow at Marathon Music Works. Can you believe it was 2009 when we first heard Miike Snow’s Animal? This band won my heart with their infectious dancy grooves many a moons ago and it’s finally time to see them live! If you’re not lucky enough to catch them on the beach at Hangout Fest this year, take advantage of this rare Nashville date by the Sweedish trio. This is going to be fun!
May 31st: Mudcrutch with The Shelters at Ryman Auditorium. If you were lucky enough to get a ticket to this show you better get there in time to catch the opener. Tom Petty produced their new record and picked them to open for his show. It’s the second time he’s gotten his pre-heartbreakers band together for the aptly titled Mudcrutch 2 album and tour. What a treat it will be to catch this one at our mother church.
May 31st: Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros at Ascend Amphitheater. If you were not lucky enough to get a ticket to the Ryman this night then just head on down to our newest downtown outdoor venue. I’ve seen this band the last two times they played sold out Ryman shows and they do not disappoint! It’s actually hard to describe how cool their live show is but it’s a unique and vibey experience that will leave you coming back for more!
