This Nashville Sunday Night was a treat for our listeners and audience at 3rd and Lindsley. Barns Courtney put on a phenomenal show full of intense guitar playing accompanied by a thunderous voice. And then in between songs he displayed his animated and open personality, certainly making us laugh and identify with the stories he was telling.
Barns succeeds as both a singer and lyricist. His songs are anthems of a young protagonist experiencing the world. Barns can be searching for meaning, or defending the decisions he has made, but each chorus is honest, and an unfiltered depiction of who he is. His song “Fire” is just a taste of the uplifting catalogue he presents. Barns brought every ounce of himself to the table, and we always appreciate a little stand up comedy laced in a set at our Nashville Sunday Night.
