Adam here with my DJ pick of the week from Santa Barbara indie outfit Gardens & Villa. After a four year hiatus, the band is back with a new single, “Underneath the Moon.”
Since the band’s debut album (produced by the late Richard Swift) eight years ago, G&V have undergone member changes and internal turmoil all while dealing with the challenges of growing up and adulthood. Now the band is hitting refresh and starting over with four of the original members reunited. The new single disguises itself as a synth-pop jam, but has a deeper meaning. The track explores how we can overcome death and loss with the power of love- possibly an ode to the band’s dear friend and collaborator, Richard Swift.
