Live On The Green Line-up for 2011

Live On the Green, a free, public concert series held at Public Square in front of the Metro Courthouse, will launch its third season on Sept. 8.  The six-week concert series, which is produced by Tuned In Broadcasting, Inc. in partnership with the Nashville Mayor’s Office, will take place Thursday nights through Oct. 13. Shows start at 6 p.m.

“This is the third year of one of the most successful concert series in Nashville history, and the fact that it takes place on what I consider the city’s front porch makes it extra special to me,” Mayor Karl Dean said. “Free live music downtown featuring a diverse array of musical talent and presented in an environmentally conscious fashion is what Music City is all about. I want to thank Lightning 100 for again supporting this public event.”

The 2011 lineup, which was announced today, is as follows:

Sept. 8: The Nashville Symphony with K.S. Rhoads; Will Hoge
Sept. 15: Los Lonely Boys; Rumba
Sept. 22: Robert Randolph & The Family Band; The Dirty Guv’nahs; Moon Taxi
Sept. 29: Ten Out of Tenn; Edwin McCain
Oct. 6: Brett Dennen; Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors
Oct. 13: Here Come the Mummies

More artists will be announced as they are confirmed.

“The Nashville Symphony’s collaboration with K.S. Rhoads highlights the diverse lineup for this year’s series,” said Lester Turner, Jr., President of Tuned In Broadcasting, Inc. and Executive Producer for Live on the Green. “Music City houses a wealth of talent.  We’re proud to showcase a combination of these local artists and exciting national acts.”

New features this year include an expanded food court featuring local food vendors.  Happy Tales Humane will provide a dedicated area for dogs, as well as pet-adoption and RFID tagging opportunities. The series organizers also plan to host “Lunches on the Green,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Thursday. More details will be announced as the series kickoff nears.

Live On the Green is engaged in a number of carbon-offset efforts, including recycling; using reusable, sustainable and biodegradable materials; encouraging alternate modes of transportation; offering organic merchandising and free drinking–water stations; engaging participants with green initiatives and using energy-efficient lighting and sound. Public Square Park, where the series is held, is a green roof that sits atop a five-level subterranean parking garage with a rainwater collection system.
