My Morning Jacket debuts “Big Decisions”

My Morning Jacket will release their seventh studio album, “The Waterfall,” on May 4th. It will be their first release since “Circuital” in 2011. The band started recording “The Waterfall” in 2013 while at the Panoramic House Studio in Stinson Beach, California. In an interview, they stated that they often use their location for inspiration when recording new music. Frontman Jim James stated that, “For me, every record has the spirit of where we made it. Stinson Beach was so psychedelic and focused. It was almost like we lived on our own little moon out there. It feels like you’re up in the sky.”

“The Waterfall” was recorded with producer-engineer Tucker Martine, who previously worked with the band on their sixth album “Circuital” in 2011. With this particular album, they decided to take a more spontaneous approach to the recording process and skip the rehearsal period altogether. The result was 24 tracks that were split into two different albums, with the second being released in 2016. Their lead single, “Big Decisions,” is currently available for purchase on iTunes and their summer tour kicks off on May 15th in Athens, Georgia.

Ben Sollee performing “The Globe” and “Electrify” at Bonnaroo

Did you see Ben Sollee perform with My Morning Jacket or one of his 5 performances at Bonnaroo?  Ben Sollee performs an impromptu set in Centeroo for some lucky fans.  We setup under a tree in front of the Which Stage in the middle of a bunch of festival goers, attempting to cool off in the shade.  After people slowly started hearing Ben perform, they moved closer or at least woke up.  It was a great to see a huge crowd by the end of the second song!  Check out this performance of the song “The Globe.” Share with your friends!

The one-of-a-kind music festival takes place May 20th – 22nd on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama – just minutes from the Florida border. Tickets go on-sale this Wednesday at 9 am CST. A confirmed lineup is listed below. More bands, amenities and activities will be announced in the coming weeks. The Hangout Music Festival debuted in 2010 and set itself apart from other festivals by featuring a blockbuster lineup of bands performing on stages located directly on the beach. Thousands of condominiums within walking distance add to the exceptional experience shared by music enthusiasts and beach lovers.  This year, the festival is adding a fifth music stage under an air-conditioned tent and creating Hammock Beach, a replenishing salt-water lagoon where music fans will find shade, hammocks, and art installations. Another feature of Hammock Beach will be the Sky-bar tower, a structure built specifically for Hangout offering 360-degree views of the festival. For fans interested in taking their festival experience to the next level, VIP ticket holders are invited to take a dip in Hangout’s new resort style in-ground pool with views of the main stage (deck side bar service is included). Other new attractions include an extended kids’ area, family events, late night deejays, and shuttle service between stages.
