Team Green’s Volunteer Trip Leaders are a group of long-time Team Green Members who are passionate about Team Green Adventures and have taken on a leadership role. They volunteer to plan and lead trips to give a wider variety of activities for our participants to choose from. They are CPR and First Air or Wilderness First Aid Certified, and do their best to ensure the safety, comfort and enjoyment of each participant on their events. Our Volunteer Trip Leaders have passed a criminal background check. Lightning 100’s Team Green Adventures is grateful for all the time and effort our volunteers contribute to the success of Team Green Adventures.

Do you have a passion for Team Green’s mission to promote active living? Are you experienced in the types of activities that Team Green offers? Do you wish that Team Green offered more of a specific type of event that you have experience doing? Consider becoming a Volunteer Trip Leader. Check out our Trip Leader Guidelines and ask for an application!

Feel free to contact Erin at erin@erinpauling.com.

Jerud Colbert

Jerud has been a Team Green member since 2014 and became a trip leader in 2016. He found Team Green Adventures to be a great resource for working professionals to meet new people, stay active, and give back to the community without having to do all the planning himself… well, that’s what he thought before he became a trip leader, anyway!

When asked what makes him a great trip leader, he said “I have extensive experience herding (managing) cats (IT people) through treacherous terrain (corporate culture) with limited resources (no instructions).” You’ll most often see Jerud at sand volleyball, indoor rock climbing, waterway cleanups, and beginner backpacking trips.

If you need to get in touch with Jerud, contact TeamGreen@Lightning100.com and we’ll pass your message along!

Jim Hawkins

Jim Hawkins has been a Team Green Adventures member since 2003, starting out as a regular weekly Sand Volleyball player in 2002. You’ll still see Jim out at Sand Volleyball, plus Lightning 100’s Adventure Socials, or helping out at the Team Green Adventures booth during festivals like Nashville Earth Day Festival and Live On The Green Music Festival.

If you need to reach Jim, contact TeamGreen@Lightning100.com and we’ll pass along your message to him!

Michelle Guess

Michelle has been an active Team Green member since early 2014, and enjoys leading beginner backpacking trips and day hikes. She is a prime example of how Lightning 100’s departments work together to attract amazing fans and leaders! Michelle lives in Franklin, KY and is a huge Michael Franti fan. She attended Lightning 100’s Live On The Green 2013 when Michael Franti was performing. While there she heard all about Lightning 100, and started streaming the station online at work. That’s when she heard about Lightning 100’s Team Green Adventures backpacking trips, and attended her first backpacking trip in 2014.

Now Michelle is a trip leader and continues to spread the good word about Lightning 100 throughout Kentucky! Michelle works for the school board in her hometown.

Nerissa Aquino

Nerissa has been a Team Green member since 2005. She was born and raised in Nashville; that makes her a Unicorn! She enjoys a blend of moderate-to-strenuous outdoor adventures like rock climbing and easy-going competitions like Sand Volleyball. Nerissa especially loves when live music melds with outdoor recreation, or when she can learn a new skill while giving back to the community.

Her favorite part about embracing outdoor play and exploration is sharing all those experiences with her son and the great friends she has made through Team Green along the way.

Contact her at nerissabee@yahoo.com.

Patrick Gray

Patrick has been an active Team Green member since 2012, and his first event was weekly indoor rock climbing. Eventually Patrick got more involved with Team Green’s community service projects like waterway cleanups and community garden volunteer events. It’s no wonder that, when invited to become a trip leader, those are the events Patrick took an interest in leading!

Patrick is a trial lawyer working in downtown Nashville. He has too many dogs, and looks for any excuse to have an adventure.

Feel free to contact Patrick at graypj826@gmail.com.

Paul Handley

Paul Handley has been a Team Green member since 2002, and has been leading mountain biking trips since 2011. Paul is not a Nashville native, but he has lived here for over 20 years, which we believe makes him an honorary native. He enjoys white water kayaking, hiking, backpacking, trail running, scuba diving, and above all… mountain biking. He believes that enjoying these activities with a group brings new light to the activity each time, which is why he is such a loyal Team Greener!

If you need to get in touch with Paul, contact TeamGreen@Lightning100.com and we’ll pass along your message!

Samantha

Samantha has been a Team Green Adventures member since 2015. She heard about it through a friend and started attending the weekly indoor rock climbing. She loves what Team Green Adventures stands for and has met some pretty amazing people who have become her closest friends! She became a trip leader so she could help to ensure that Team Green continues to offer the types of events that she loves the most, and get more of the Nashville community involved.

If you need to get in touch with Samantha, contact TeamGreen@Lightning100.com and we’ll pass along your message!

Sheryl Handley

Stephen Bryant

Stephen has been a Team Green member since 2008. When asked “what inspired you to become a volunteer trip leader,” Stephen’s response was, “I was drafted. I’m not sure I ever volunteered.” This is a true story! Stephen is an experienced backpacker and has thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. He enjoys the simple things about backpacking, and hates hiking in the rain; he had enough of that! He primarily leads Beginner Backpacking trips so he can introduce new people to backpacking.

Stephen is an IT professional at Vanderbilt. If you need to get in touch with Stephen, contact TeamGreen@Lightning100.com and we’ll pass along your message!
