Lt. Dan’s DJ Pick of the Week!
The Local Natives have released a new 2020 rendition of their 2016 hit “Dark Days.” This new release of the song features beloved vocalist Sylvan Esso.
The song is about growing up in Southern California and navigating your life and trying to have fun as a teenager, while also carrying religious guilt. The band was able to perform the song live with Sylvan Esso on Jimmy Kimmel during the last pre corona days. The Local Natives are thankful Esso lended them not only her voice, but the enamoring verses she wrote that capture the nostalgia and longings for a different time.
The music video for the tune is full of imagery of growing up in dreamy Southern California. The grainy short clips creates a vision of learning as a confused, young teen, and later missing something you didn’t realize you ever even had.
