Durand Jones & The Indications switch up their sound with their new track “Witchoo,” set for their upcoming album Private Space. Breaking away from their more soulful aura, the single experiments with different genres to create an upbeat vibe. With the hopes of people coming together in the nearing months, “Witchoo” symbolizes feelings of excitement and togetherness. “Witchoo” is Dan’s DJ Pick of the Week!
Comprised of five members, Durand Jones & The Indications know what it feels like to be separated from one another over the past year. In an interview with Billboard, drummer Aaron Frazer stated, “We spent a lot of the last year separated from each other, stuck in our separate boxes. It was tough in so many ways, but it also shook us out of our rhythm and allowed us to look inward and experiment with different sounds and new approaches to our songwriting.” “Witchoo” does just that by mixing ’60s disco music with modern beats. The background voices bring the song to life, furthering a sense of connection. “Witchoo” collectively stirs up nostalgic and euphoric feelings, looking at the past and towards the future. “It’s new, it’s alive and we can’t wait to show you,” stated Frazer, and we can’t wait for you to listen on Lightning 100!
