Today’s DJ Pick of the Week goes to Nonalign for their debut single, “Spiraling”. The song was released on January 22nd by local indie pop duo, Nonalign. The duo consists of Justin Owens and Marty Lamain who are both based out of Nashville. “Spiraling” was produced by member, Justin Owens and the track was mixed and mastered by Josh Colby.
Back in 2014 Owens and Lamain met via a Facebook community page when Owens was looking for musicians for an upcoming gig. When the two met they instantly connected over being aspiring songwriters who just recently moved to Nashville that year. Over time Owen and Lamain wrote together regularly and even roomed together for a couple years. They continued to release songs for their individual projects until Lamain presented the idea of starting a duo together.
The track we are spotlighting, “Spiraling”, was the first song that Nonalign wrote together as a an indie pop duo. Member Justin Owens says the song “describes how the pursuit of love, especially one that is new, can be so overwhelming and intoxicating. Our goal was to write a catchy song and track that would resonate with the listener on a personal level and leave them wanting more.” Check it out below!
