This week’s Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week is Airpark! After a string of successful EPs starting in 2017, Airpark finally unveiled their first full-length album last Friday. Prehistoric Feeling, which was promoted via the early release of single “Under the Light,” expands upon the bouncy, groovy sound that the band is so appreciated for. Specifically, “Under the Light” juxtaposes precise, jazzy guitar riffs against reverb-drenched auxiliary tracks. Building the music into a distorted crescendo, Airpark and producer St. Lucia sculpt a sonic story with a distinct plot and resolution.

With lyrics and vocal delivery that help push “Under the Light” into a classic R&B direction, Airpark proves their willingness to step out of their comfort zone as they progress through their career. At the same time, “Under the Light” maintains the bright catchiness of the Airpark sound that is sure to cement the band’s role in the national indie circuit. See Airpark at their show at Nashville’s The Basement on September 22nd, and listen to “Under the Light” below!

Tune in to 100.1 FM and lightning100.com all week to hear “Under the Light” by Airpark (feat. St. Lucia), our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week.
