This week’s Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week is Lilly Hiatt! We’ll be spinning her track “Under The Milky Way!”

Hiatt is a Nashville-based folk-rock singer-songwriter and daughter of illustrious singer-songwriter John Hiatt. Raised in Music City, she started making music at 12, and never looked back. In 2014, she released her debut album Let Down under the name Lilly Hiatt and the Dropped Ponies. Since then, she has recorded five studio albums.

Australian rock band The Church released the original “Under The Milky Way” in the late 80s. Hiatt’s is one of many covers of the song, yet her rendition brings in hypnotic vocals, and a killer distorted guitar solo played by Doug Graham. It is a stand-out cover a part of 3Sirens Presents: With Love. With Love Pt I & II are collections of covers from artists signed to the label. Artists like Elizabeth Cook, Nicole Atkins, and Patrick Sweany also have tracks on the EP.
