“Four Moons” by Mandy Moore is Dan’s DJ pick of the week! Moore started pursuing a career in music as a child. Her first public performances consisted of singing the national anthem at local stadium games. However, these humble shows quickly shifted into a record deal with Sony 550 Music and her first tour with the Backstreet Boys! The 31-year-old has since released six studio albums and has starred in major motion pictures and shows like This is Us.
Since the pandemic halted most film projects, Moore turned back to music. In an interview with Health, Moore discusses how songwriting was a form of self-care throughout the isolating months. She says, “It was a way of finding some sort of catharsis during the pandemic.” After lockdown, Moore emerged with the announcement of her new album, In Real Life, which was just released on May 13.
“Four Moons” is the second single off of the pandemic project. The home-movie style of the official music video allows for a quick glimpse into Moore’s family and home life. The scenes feature Moore’s husband and their young son Augustus. Both the song and the video are sweet reminders of the simple pleasures that family brings.
Moore will begin her 2022 tour June 10 in Atlanta, and is set to play at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on June 25! Check out tickets and tour dates here!
