For Keith’s DJ pick this week, he has chosen a song from Tears For Fears called “Break The Man”! This song is the third single from the band’s first studio anthem in seventeen years, The Tipping Point. The accompanying music video portrays a visualization of the patriarchy – “a place of endless hierarchies built on blind devotion to unstable and unsustainable structures”. About the video, Curt Smith says, “It’s about a strong female – which is obvious – but it’s really about breaking the patriarchy.”

Tears For Fears is a duo made up of Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal. The band formed in Bath, England in 1981. If you listen to music, you’ve heard at least one song from this band. For instance, just a few of their many songs include “Everybody Wants to Rule The World”, “Shout”, and “Head Over Heels”. Their music is also featured in film and television such as Ready Player One and Donnie Darko. Tears For Fears embarks on a world tour in May, stopping in Atlanta on June 12th. While you get ready to see them live, you can enjoy the music video for “Break The Man” here:
