The next ONErpm Hitmaker Alert is “Little Reactions” by Middle Tennessee’s own The Katies. The track is an impeccable blend of chart-topping rock influences – an ode to the 90’s if you will.
But this band is more than just its classic roots.
The Katies assembled at Middle Tennessee State University in the late 90’s. With the support of Elektra Records, the band – Jason Moore, Joshua Moore and Gary Welch – released its first album. The Katies moved to Los Angeles and later disbanded. In 2017, they reunited and recorded a slate of singles and one EP. Their second album – “Die Ultra” – was released on May 20 of this year.
“Little Reactions” is the second track on the LP. It’s a strong follow-up to the album’s leadoff tune “10 Holy Words”. Both songs serve as the perfect reintroduction to The Katies, exemplifying everything this band is capable of in the studio.
“Little Reactions” combines classic rock with today’s sound. It simultaneously sounds like a Nirvana track and a Judah and the Lion alt/rock anthem.
It’s timeless – but never stuck in time.
