This week’s Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week is Julia Cannon, and we’re playing her track “Yellow Lines!”
Cannon (originally from Alaska) is a Nashville based songwriter, recording artist, and producer. She has been praised for her beautiful ballads and sultry sweet voice. “Yellow Lines” is her most recent release. Cannon’s music is folky pop with strong influences of soul, rock, and jazz. Her folky-pop is reminiscent of early Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareillis.
“Yellow Lines” by Julia Cannon is a beautifully written acoustic ballad. It’s lyrics navigate as Cannon calls it on TikTok, her insecure kind of attachment style. The song shows is for those who feel the need to be needed, those who remember the little things for way too long, and those who may have ever been called “clingy” by an ex. Cannon pours her heart out in this track. Her soothing voice paired with some light steel guitar makes this a wonderfully composed song to aid your Sad Girl Autumn.
