This week’s Frothy Monkey local artist of the week is Amber Woodhouse!
Woodhouse’s latest single “Golden” was just released on June 23rd. It was also featured as Casey’s DJ pick earlier in the month prior to its release. This song is made for sunny summer afternoons. You can almost feel the warm breeze and almost see the golden hour sun as you listen to this song. “Golden” is a song that earns a spot on any backyard barbecue playlist.
This song feels timeless in its lyrics and themes. Musically, its instrumentation is grounded in modern electronic hip-hop, R&B and pop. Woodhouse’s vocals are rich and smooth, and add to the easygoing feel of the track. Timelessness with a modern twist is nothing new for Woodhouse, who recently collaborated with Postmodern Jukebox on a 70s fusion samba cover of Estelle’s “American Boy.”
Woodhouse is also a saxophonist and a member of rock band Trigger Hippy. She originally hails from Minnesota’s Twin Cities. Before moving to Music City, Woodhouse earned a degree from the Berklee School of Music in Boston. To learn more about our local artist of the week, you can check out her website here.
