Dan’s DJ pick this week is an unreleased track from Nashville-based musician Austin Grimm. Just in time for Valentine’s day, “Unconditional Love” is coming out on February 17th. The reggae artist is also known as the frontman of the national touring band Roots of a Rebellion. Originally from Saint Louis, Austin moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University, where he met his fellow bandmates. After graduating in 2012, the group set out touring vastly coast to coast. The band cultivated a steadfast following, eventually gaining Billboard recognition for their 2019 record. Although the band remains on an indefinite hiatus, Austin continues to write and record his own music. After winning Music City Mayhem back in 2012 and Live On The Green in 2018, the artist is a well-known force in the Lightning 100 community. This year’s Music City Mayhem is coming into full swing and submissions are now open until February 26th at 11:59 pm CT.
The expected track “Unconditional Love” with collaborators KNEX and Sun-Dried Vibes is a breezy reggae tune with groovy pop elements. The track has clean-cut guitar melodies with tasteful reverb and ample rhythmic pockets. Providing a modern reggae sound, the vocal grooves through the song conducting the effortless guitar licks and meshing closely with the bright drum sounds. The song is an addictive, easy listen likely to have the listener itching for the summer sun.
