This week’s local artist spotlight is shinin’ on Jackson Bruck & The Dukes of Hume. The rock ‘n’ roll soul band just released their single “Blue” as part of their upcoming project, which frontman Jackson Bruck produced himself. The track is the first release of their anticipated sophomore record, The Lonely Lovers Serenade.
Influenced by The Beatles and classic rock from an early age, Bruck had been developing his old-school style long before the band originated in 2018. Initially performing around Knoxville during his college years, Bruck moved back home to Music City in 2014. After a few years of performing locally, Bruck quickly began releasing his original music with bandmates The Dukes of Hume. The band features Jackson and his sister Jacy, who made a name for themselves around Nashville after their victory at Music City Mayhem in 2018. Since then, Jackson Bruck & The Dukes of Hume have become known as one of Music City’s most electric rock bands.
Over the years, Music City Mayhem has become Nashville’s highly sought-after music discovery competition for emerging artists. The band’s latest single “Blue” starts off with some high-energy, groovy guitar and bass riffs. Reminiscent of the rock ‘n’ roll 70s sound, The Dukes of Hume strive to encapsulate elements of early rock while establishing their own soulful southern style. Bruck’s smooth vocals and catchy rhythmic melodies are sure to leave this song stuck in your head all week.
