Dan’s DJ Pick this week is “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims! “Lose Control” is the first single off of what will be Teddy’s debut album, I Tried Everything But Therapy, coming out September 15th!
Teddy’s vocal control blended together with the catchiness of the keyboard stabs make this track intoxicating. His vocal technique combines Soul, Pop, and R&B that come together through the riff at the end of the chorus.
The dark lyrics in the song play off of each other into the next phrase, like “Problematic, problem is, when I’m with you I’m an addict, and I need some relief, my skin in your teeth.”
The production throughout the song provides a diverse, yet complimentary instrumentation. There are heavy-hitting drums, a consistent piano melody, and even an electric guitar solo that comes in at the end. Overall, there’s not a dull moment in the song, even leading up to the closing vocal riff.
