Classic southern rock meets modern indie with this week’s Local Artist of the Week, The Weeks. We’ll be playing their track “This Dance” as they prepare to play Brooklyn Bowl with fellow locals Chrome Pony and Lennox Hills this Saturday the 28th.

Originally from Florence Mississippi, their long-developed sound has come to fruition since meeting in high-school back in 2006. Seeing double, twins Cyle and Cain Barnes became complete after meeting fellow bandmates Damian Bone and Samuel Williams. Cyle leads the group with his boundless voice as he moves between sounds of angsty grit to smooth soulful ballads. Meanwhile, Cain and Damien hold the groove of the backline as Sam builds guitar and vocal harmony. The four-piece indie rock band remains true to its soulful southern identity despite their constant growth over the years.

This week, we are highlighting “This Dance” from their 2020 album Twisted Rivers. The track is quick to get you moving with its short synth intro that moves straight into the infectious drum groove. Cyle jumps in with his electric vocal and intimate lyrics navigating the emotions that come with relationships. With tight dynamic cuts from verse to chorus, the lyrics and melody dance together in conscious harmony.

Tune in to 100.1 FM and lightning100.com all week to hear “This Dance” by The Weeks, our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week!
