Jayson’s DJ Pick of The Week is “Used to It” by Nashville’s own Ambrette!

Ambrette has been a prominent member of the scene for some time now, shaping their sound with character, and experience. This is the assumption one might make upon first listen of their shimmering summer single “Used to It.” But while Ambrette embodies so many of the qualities of an indie rock veteran, they’ve only been a band for a short few months. Rarely does a debut single settle so confidently into the world of indie with the pop-sensibilities and maturity of an experienced outfit. Even more rarely does this all come before a group has played their first show.

The duo, comprised of two multi-instrumentalists, kick off their music career with a mellow banger. Front and center are a beachy, verbed-out instrumental and an earnest vocal performance. The psychedelic guitar layers lay a strong foundation for some triumphant lead guitar lines and driving bass grooves. These musical ideas give the piece an easy, carefree feel which is matched by the lyrical themes. The song’s lyrics detail a reluctant acceptance of one’s seemingly inevitable struggles. All of these elements are wrapped up neatly in an expert production outing by Polychrome Ranch’s James Corder, bringing the song’s many layers to life.

In support of “Used to It,” Ambrette made their live debut on August 25th during Lightning 100’s Nashville Sunday Night.
