This week our community corner spotlight is on the Iroquois Steeplechase and East Nashville Golf Scramble!
Brother Love sat down with Dwight Hall, the Chairman of Steeplechase and Mark Gonzalez, from the East Nashville Golf Scramble. Both of these events aim to support and encourage the community to get out and get involved.
The Iroquois Steeplechase is a festival of fun, fashion, food, and a world class horserace. The event takes place on the second Saturday of May, this year being May 10th 2025. You might be asking yourself, what is a steeplechase? A steeplechase is a distance race where horses jump over diverse fence and ditch obstacles. Visitors can purchase a lot of space to bring their kids, friends, and family and enjoy an evening of tailgating and camaraderie! The event serves as a fundraiser for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, as well as Friends of Warner Park. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
The East Nashville Golf Scramble is another exciting event happening at Shelby Park. A golf scramble is a tournament where four players each take a turn teeing off at each hole. Then, the best shot is chosen and players continue from that spot. This repeats until the hole is complete. This is the 100th year of the East Nashville Golf Scramble. Lots of music and industry people alike participate and create teams, some notable names being the band LadyCouch and the management company Thirty Tigers. This is a great opportunity for the parks to raise money as well as for members of the Nashville community to take advantage of the one of many beautiful metro parks.
