On this episode of Community Corner, Brother Love from Them Vibes talks with Laurie Green from Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare (SAFPAW).

Since 1998, SAFPAW has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for people and pets in need. SAFPAW is a non-profit organization based out of Davidson County, Tennessee and has been able to reach more than 10,000 dogs and cats.

The organization provides pet food, supplies, and veterinary care free of charge to pet owners who are homeless or living at or below the poverty level.

In this interview, Laurie gives insight into all things SAFPAW. How it started, what they do everyday, the obstacles they’ve dealt with, as well as her personal approach to this kind of job. She discusses how you must be able to give these people joy, regardless of how much the work may try to break you down.

Laurie explains how you must have a deep love for outreach, understanding that you are serving others regardless of judgement. She affirms ”You either have the love of serving… or get out of this field”.

Listening to her approach in her own words is much more moving so please listen give it a listen!
