The New York City 6-piece takes after R&B legends Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan as well as implementing their own psych-rock and experimental elements. Originally an 11-piece cover band, Brandi and the Alexanders have continued to mature and sharpen their sound over countless tours. The band’s library is full of dynamic, soulful, and groovy tracks with their latest single “Black Cherry” being added to the mix!
This track begins with a gentle, dampened groove allowing the listener a chance to breathe before Brandi takes it away with her pleasant vocals. Between the tight guitar plucks and pocketed drum rhythms lives soothing melodies, tying the verses together nicely. After a tight triplet interlude, we are driven into a laid-back chorus with catchy lyrical ornamentation. The track leaves us just as it began with an atmospheric yet funky tune.
