Casey’s DJ pick of the week is “On The Lam” by Carey Ott!
Carey Ott, originally from Chicago, recently released his new single, “On The Lam.” Ott originally got his start in the Chicago music scene with a band called Torben Floor in the ’90s. When Torben Floor decided to break up, Ott saw an opportunity to promote his own work. He got a demo sent to a producer in Nashville who was able to grab the attention of Dualtone Records. Dualtone liked what they heard, and soon after, Ott made his was to Nashville.
Ott’s sound is comforting and fresh. His soft, soothing vocals bring about a sense of familiarity. His new single “On The Lam” is a tale of a fugitive living in a “tourist town” who is running from his choices. One can only imagine this tourist town is none other than Music City. “Home is a cheap motel / I probably look like hell / No place I’d rather be / At least I’m living free.” With these lyrics, Ott paints a picture of a life on the run and makes you feel as though you are right there with him. This track is raw and captivating, with an upbeat draw that hooks you from start to finish. Listen to “On The Lam” below!
