Jayson’s DJ pick of the week is “Inside the Lines” by Chaparelle!
Texas natives, Zella Day, Jesse Woods, and Beau Bedford come together to form the collaborative group “Chaparelle”. The group is known for their classic Americana aesthetic and sound combined with their strong lyrical presence. The group’s music and lyrics are deeply connected to Texas because of their native roots. For further proof of their Texas bonds, Day and Woods meet at Austin City Limits and forming the collaboration shortly after. Chaparelle has been releasing music since June of this past year, including their singles “Bleeding Hearts” and their most recent single “Inside the Lines”.
“Inside the Lines” highlights the combined talents of Day and Woods’ lyrical talents and Bedford’s creative production skills. The track is lighthearted and amusing because of Day’s compelling vocals and classic Americana sound. With lyrics like “Ordered two piña coladas, no thank you, I want nada/ I’ll just have the cherry pie / I don’t mean to be rude, but I can’t trust myself around you” the artists captures nostalgic feelings that pulls the listeners in. Day and Woods are able to use their dynamic vocals to encapsulate an iconic 1950s Hollywood relationship. The track plays on two lovers talking back and forth at each other in a playful and kitschy way. Chaperelle is releasing their debut album featuring “Inside the Lines” April 18th!
