The Cactus Blossoms

The sounds of traditional, 1960s country flooded the room at 3rd and Lindsley as The Cactus Blossoms took the stage at Lightning 100’s Nashville Sunday Night Live. They initially took the stage with a relatively calm demeanor, settled into their designated positions, and within seconds let out the commanding sibling harmonies the band is known for. The two lead vocals of brothers Page Burkum and Jack Torrey show a powerful dynamic, producing a particular sound that can be intimate, and then utterly celebratory.

CB liveTheir songs echo familiarities of the Everly Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, and George Jones. The band hails from St. Paul, Minnesota, and caught good fortune when JD McPherson inquired to produce their first record. Now they are putting on shows that are truly captivating and fun, with songs such as, “Stoplight Kisses” that left the whole room stomping their feet. Slowly attendees left their dining seats, and filled the floor below the stage. It was a night of dancing, and admiration for the meaningful, exuberant, and dexterous performance the band put on.

We have a feeling this won’t be the last time Nashville sees The Cactus Blossoms.
