This week we had the pleasure of chatting with Dee Patel, the co-chair of the Nashville Public Library Foundation’s Picnic In The Park fundraiser. We talked about the importance of a strong library system, the programs that NPLF is running, and ways that Lightning 100 listeners can get involved in fundraising.
With twenty-one branches, the Nashville Public Library system serves over 350,000 card carrying book lovers. In addition to offering literally millions of titles for checkout, the libraries offer free wi-fi and desktop computer usage, program lifelong learning workshops, and run tons of early literacy programs like “Bringing Books To Life.”
NPLF’s annual Picnic In The Park fundraiser is on Sunday, May 16th and is occurring in a virtual format for the second consecutive year. Tickets can be bought online and start at just $35, with options to add raffle tickets and other perks. There are even fun art contests for the kiddos!
If you’re interested in stepping up your contribution, you can become a patron or even encourage your company to get involved as a corporate sponsor.
