Stephanie’s DJ Pick of the Week is “10:36” by beabadoobee! beabadoobee, aka Bea Kristi, is a Filipino-British indie pop/rock artist. While she grew up playing violin, the idea of doing music for a living never crossed her mind until her father brought her home an old used guitar. The rest was history! In 2017, beabadoobee released her debut song “Coffee”, receiving thousands of streams in days and catapulting her into viral stardom. The next year, she was signed to Dirty Hit records and has since released two full-length studio albums and is playing stages all over the world.
“10:36” was the third single released by beabadoobee for her second LP released in July of this year, Beatopia. With Beatopia, Kristi’s style seems to naturally have evolved into a slightly more polished and glammed version of her previous indie-grunge jammers. Many songs on the album sound like early 2000s summer anthems, and “10:36” is no different. Its guitars are catchy and fuzz-filled, and the lyrics serve as the perfect sing-along for when you’re feeling a little angsty.
