On today’s community corner we are joined by Will Macon, the director of Best Buddies TN!

Best Buddies works to make people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) feel heard, seen, and significant in all facets of life. They provide this commonly misunderstood population with friendship, leadership, and job opportunities with their goal to complete a life cycle of support.

The chapter in Tennessee currently has programs in nearly 100 schools across the state, from grade school to post-grad life. One-to-One friendship programs starting in elementary schools to help people learn about inclusion as early as possible. Furthermore, they help individuals find jobs that highlight their unique skills and talents as well as leadership training.

Champion of the Year is currently the largest event for the organization. This gala helps to raise money to help Best Buddies further expand upon current programs and resources. The annual celebration highlights supporters of the organization and creates positive competition for a good cause. Learn more about the gala here.
