“A Little Love” by Julia Pratt feat. Mt. Joy is our ONErpm Hitmaker Alert for this week! Pratt’s style emulates the likes of Hozier and Amy Winehouse. This week’s track blends those influences with the familiar sound of Philadelphia rock band Mt. Joy.
The creation of “A Little Love” began when Mt. Joy saw Pratt covering their song on Tiktok. They connected with her, and later invited her onstage in Philadelphia to perform with them. It was after this appearance that Pratt sent her demos to Matt Quinn, the band’s frontman, which was when he first heard “A Little Love.”
Make no mistake: Pratt’s affiliation with Mt. Joy is not her sole claim to fame. She is a successful artist in her own right, having supported The Head and The Heart, Hozier, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, and others on tour. Furthermore, she is working on music with the likes of John Mark Nelson (Suki Waterhouse, Devon Cole, Gnash), Ehren Ebbage (Lizzy McAlpine), and more. Next month, she’ll be playing at the Philadelphia Music Festival.
On “A Little Love,” Pratt shines. A sparse arrangement lets her show off her range and abilities vocally. Delivering both harmonies over the choruses and melody lines behind the words, she further demonstrates how much talent she wields. Quinn enters behind her on the second verse, diversifying the auditory palette and further enriching the track.
