“Zoned Out” by Soren Hansen is our ONErpm Hitmaker of the week!

Soren Hansen is a Danish artist and producer best known for co-founding the alternative pop band New Politics. The band found success through five records and over a decade of touring around the world. Now Hansen lives in Nashville where he works behind the scenes as a songwriter and producer. Hansen has collaborated with many artists including Elle King and Sam Palladio among others. From Disney to Taco Bell, Hansen’s compositions have also found success in various TV and movie syncs.

Hansen ventures out on his own for his self-titled solo debut, set to release in less than two weeks. “Zoned Out” is the third single of his solo career.

Hansen’s solo music acts as an outlet for him to be vulnerable and explore personal themes.

This single is raw and emotional; beautiful yet heavy. Hansen combines his instrumental talents with gut wrenching lyrics to draw you in and leave you with a heavy heart. The somber tone is the background for the chorus of Hansen’s woeful pleas: “I need someone to care”. “Zoned Out” is sad yet profound and this haunting melody is sure to stick in your head.

Hansen reflects: “I was having a really hard time when I wrote this song. I remember sitting downstairs and hearing the melody in my head so late at night I went upstairs and recorded it…I called Femke Weidema the next day and asked if she wanted to finish it with me. I like it because it feels haunting and because it was recorded in the very moment the feelings were present.”
