“Way Down” by Lombardy is Jayson’s DJ pick of the week!

A new era is here for Lombardy. “Way Down” begins a new chapter for the Nashville-based rock quartet.

With heavy hitting riffs and fuzzed out power chords, Lombardy is making a case for themselves. Not just another rock n’ roll outfit, Lombardy have something special. Lombardy is Mike Scott (vocals, lead guitar), Jonathan Plevyak (vocals, rhythm guitar), Seth Rentfrow (bass, vocals), and Steve Mascarello (drums).

“Way Down” begins with a grungy Nirvana-esque bass/vocal intro. The rhythm keeps the listener head-banging along all the way through the end. With a chorus that’ll make you turn up that volume knob, Lombardy have a true summer hit on their hands.

“Way Down is definitely a grungy track. There’s some Soundgarden/Audioslave/Radiohead inspiration there for sure. But we think it’s our own take on that genre, and a fresh sound that you don’t really hear that much of in this current day of music.” said lead guitarist and vocalist Mike Scott.

When asked about the meaning behind the lyrics and the greater context of the album, Scott had a relatable message for listeners saying “The song is essentially about trying not to lose your mind. With all the outside pressures of society and the media in this day & age, trying to think for yourself and standing up for what you believe in is sometimes hard to do.”
