This week’s Community Corner spotlight features Shower The People!
In the latest episode, Brother Love sat down with Meredith MacLeod Jaulin, executive director of Shower The People.
Shower The People is a nonprofit founded in 2017, dedicated to providing showers, laundry services, and hygiene products to those in need. After seeing an add on Facebook about a desire to create a mobile shower system through an old school bus posted by Russ Arnold, Jaulin reached out and Shower The People was formed. Jaulin explains the power of a shower and the impact that it can make on a person’s day. They want to minimize the fear and judgement that a lack of access to hygienic tools can create. Along with showers, they also offer laundry services and hygiene products such as toothbrushes, underwear, and soap.
Not only does Shower The People provide a space for showering, but they foster a community as well. They work to create a space where people feel valued, seen, and lifted up. They are quick to take action during natural disasters and flooding, providing immediate support to those in need within the community. Check out their website here where you can find more information about donating and volunteer opportunities!
