This week’s Community Corner spotlight features Move Inclusive Dance!

Brother Love sat down with Lauren Morris, founder and executive director, and Megan Jayroe, program director, to hear more about Move Inclusive Dance, a local dance studio here in Nashville and Franklin. Move explains that they are an “inclusive dance studio that empowers individuals of all ability levels to learn life skills through dance.” who “use the power of movement and music to transform [their] students’ lives while providing a nurturing, inviting community for all.”

Morris, who grew up dancing, noticed that there was a lack in inclusive spaces for dancers, and decided she would create on of her own. She called up her old friend, Megan Jayroe, who she knew had dance experience, as well as her masters in special education, and from there they worked together to create Move Inclusive Dance. What started as a short summer camp has transformed into two studio locations here in Nashville that teach classes, host online classes, and also work on community outreach dance courses as well. Move Inclusive Dance has become a safe and welcoming space for many individuals where they can not only express their creative side, but also learn important life skills that they can continue to use in the years to come. May 3rd, Move Inclusive Dance will be hosting their 5th annual Get Movin’ 5K where you can partake in running, learning some new dance moves, and some fun arts and crafts activities.
