Lightning 100 is excited to announce Colony House as our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week with their song “Atomic”!
Brothers Caleb and Will Chapman, along with Scott Mills and Parke Cottrell, make up this Franklin, Tennessee-raised rock band. The four-piece returns with their fifth studio album, 77, releasing on September 5. It is a nostalgic, 90s sound that invites listeners on a soul-searching journey. The band describes 77 as “a symbol of eternal perspective—a lens to look at love, loss, and life with more intention.” The album showcases Colony House’s no-nonsense, band-forward attitude, which reflects the raw energy of their live performances. 77 moves through themes of faith, forgiveness, and the passage of time. “Atomic” captures that message most clearly, exploring the tension between remaining tender and succumbing to cynicism.
Their upcoming album features “Atomic” along with six other songs. Caleb Chapman wrote the track after rewatching The Kid and remembering how much he cried the first time. Chapman relates to Bruce Willis’ character as an adult. The connection made him reflect on preserving the part of himself that still feels deeply during kids’ movies or while reading headstones. He does not want his default to be critical or cynical. Instead, he hopes to stay open to the world’s wonders and never grow numb to its beauty.
Sonically, “Atomic” pulses with urgency, driven by gritty guitar riffs and pounding drums. Caleb Chapman’s vocals move between restrained and explosive, adding to the track’s dynamic energy. The raw sound matches the emotional intensity of the lyrics. The rawness of the sound matches the emotional intensity of the lyrics, giving the track an intimate and cinematic feel. It is a personal yet relatable track that leads fans to sing along to the catchy tune.
Colony House will be hitting the road this fall, including a stop at Tennessee’s Pilgrimage Festival this September. The festival is hosting a giveaway with the band, offering two VIP passes and a meet-and-greet for one lucky fan and guest. Do not miss your chance to catch them live, and be sure to keep an eye out for 77 when it drops this September.
