This week Lightning 100 has selected Amanda Shires as the Frothy Monkey Local Artist of The Week and highlights her powerful single, “Piece of Mind.”
Amanda Shires hails from West Texas originally, but has called Nashville home for nearly twenty years. She is renowned for her work in various groups as a talented fiddle player and vocalist, such as The Highwomen and The 400 Unit, but it is in her eight solo albums where her true talent as an artist shines. Amanda Shires has demonstrated her versatility and raw skill as a musician over the years, and tracks we’ve heard so far from her upcoming 9th studio album like “Nobody’s Girl” are no exception. We highlight this Local Artist of the Week’s latest chapter in her storied career with “Piece of Mind. “

The lead single on Nobody’s Girl, “Piece of Mind” is a gritty, yet melodic blues rocker with atmospheric rhythm and punchy guitar that takes the lead underneath Shire’s voice. Amanda Shires sings the cutting words with passion, and brings out the honesty with her signature fiddle trills. This tune has found a home on our airwaves with its vintage feel, but universally relevant themes of redemptive heartbreak, and Shires will be in the Hideout Academy studio this Friday morning. Lightning 100 is excited to hear the rest of Shire’s upcoming album and has high hopes for the soon-to-be legendary Americana artist in this new chapter of her career.
