As stated in her website,“from Las Vegas to Nashvegas” Abigayle Oakley has remained her authentic self with her honest writing and clear voice that is perfect for carrying the stories she tells. As an established songwriter, she has written for not only herself, but has also written for several independent artists such as Kate Yeager and Molly Frances. However, it is on her solo recordings where Oakley’s voice as both a writer and artist shine through the most. It’s easy to see why Abigayle Oakley has garnered the attention of the groups she has opened for like The War and Treaty, Jed, and The Valentine.
Oakley’s most recent release is “Press 3”, which was released on September 12th. The tune is a bright and fun indie folk song with a twist. Oakley’s inspiration is the idea of taking a customer satisfaction survey at the end of life. She takes what could be a dark topic and makes it something hopeful, while remaining reflective and reverent.
“Press 3” starts with a strumming acoustic line underlaid with a grooving drive in the bass. Soon Oakley’s smooth voice comes over the top with clever lyricism delivered in a calming manner. When auxiliary percussion continues to carry the song forward from the chorus on, light electric guitar sprinkles in dashes of color. As she continues her career as a Nashville based artist and songwriter, “Press 3” is a fantastic part of the journey.
