As we near the end of our first week of Holiday Hops 2020, Matt takes us back to Belgium to sip on a Chimay Premiere Red. This dark ales is copper in color and has a sweet, fruity taste. If you’re hearing the angels sing, you’re not imagining things – this beer is actually brewed under the supervision of a Trappist monastery. In fact, most of the revenue from this brew helps the monks there provide community services!
Matt explains that this is a “double” with 7% ABV. The slight bitterness on the backend helps to balance the fruity aroma. Like many Belgian beers, Chimay Premeire Red goes great with a meal, not surprising since Chimay also makes cheese!
