It might be Thursday, but today’s episode of Hoptober features a brew from Harpoon Brewery called Flannel Friday! DJ Jayson and Rhizome Productions’ Matt Leff would gladly enjoy this brew on any day of the week. Harpoon Brewery is a longstanding Massachusetts based brewer that has been selling beer in Nashville for years. Harpoon’s offerings are more traditional when it comes to their flavors, and Flannel Friday delivers a timeless and delicious brew.
Leff describes Flannel Friday as “amber, hoppy, and borderline IPA” with 5.7% ABV. At 35 IBU, it’s more on the bitter side but not to an unpleasant degree. Upon tasting, Leff states that Flannel Friday is reminiscent of a classic amber or IPA. He says the flavor is almost akin to a low ABV barley wine since the sweetness of the malt that contrasts with the fruity, floral spice from the hops. Flannel Friday is not an especially heavy beer, making it easy to drink.
Flannel Friday is available in bottles and cans in both 12 oz and 16 oz options. It’s also available on draft. You can find Harpoon Brewery’s Flannel Friday at beer retailers in and around Nashville!
