The Cactus Blossoms join Ana Lee in the studio and perform “Mississippi” and “Stoplight Kisses.” The band talks about their influences and its affect on their sound, growing up under the same roof as siblings, their latest record You’re Dreaming, their friendship with JD McPherson, and their songwriting process.
After my regular day job, I was headed to job #2 in East Nashville (lifeguard at the Maddox Y pool) and at first I didn’t realize this was The Cactus Blossoms because I’m familiar with their song Stoplight Kisses. I was searching all over my phone for who these voices were, using Soundhoud with no luck, and listening so hard afterwards to hear Anna Lee tell us the band after the song ended and my face met my palm. “Of course it’s The Cactus Blossoms!” I fell totally in love with this song…and I’m already partial to this live version as my absolute favorite. I mean, I was headed to a pool and literally wishing I was with my girl, who was chilling out on the lake at the time. Everything about this song was perfect, beautiful, and so so serene. Thank you Lightning 100 for playing this band and such awesome music. I can’t get enough of this song. 🙂
