This week’s Community Corner spotlight features Chaplain Dahron Anneliese Johnson!
Brother Love recently sat down with clinically trained chaplain Dahron Anneliese Johnson to explore her far-reaching impact in Nashville and beyond. Johnson serves in palliative and hospice care across Middle Tennessee. She offers guidance, emotional support, and spiritual presence to individuals and families during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. Her clinical work is rooted in compassion, and her role often includes helping patients and loved ones navigate grief, loss, and the complexities of end-of-life care.
Beyond her work in healthcare, Johnson is the co-chair of the Nashville committee of the Tennessee Equality Project. This is a statewide organization dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of LGBTQ+ Tennesseans. She is a vocal and visible trans rights advocate who has testified before multiple committees in the Tennessee General Assembly. She courageously speaks out against anti-trans legislation and pushes for policies that ensure equity, dignity, and access to inclusive healthcare. Johnson also works closely with the Southern Christian Coalition, amplifying faith-based voices in the broader justice and civil rights movement.
Johnson’s advocacy is deeply personal, rooted in her lived experience as a transgender woman of faith. She is a licensed minister in the United Church of Christ with over fifteen years of experience. She supports communities facing grief and trauma, particularly those that are often underserved or marginalized. Johnson remains a steadfast advocate for healing, justice, and human dignity, whether at a bedside, behind a podium, or among neighbors at community gatherings.
